Marie-Anne welcomed everybody to the meeting and thanked them for making the journey.
The virus that had swept water-skier’s e-mail was discussed and apologies were given by Nicky for the minutes and the agenda being sent out late.
It was noted that under “Standings List” it should read cut off for jump for normal homologation should read 40m for Men (not 40th) and 30m for Women (not 30th).
The Minutes of the meeting held in Nice on 10th/11th November in Nice were approved unanimously and were duly signed by Marie-Anne and Nicky.
The website had changed to Cableski.org and was trying to combine with different disciplines with links. Juergen Pitz is hoping to have a meeting with Bob Corson and Phillipe Turchet at the Tournament World Championships. The other site is EAMEWaterski.org.
Exams
Marie-Anne is to write to the Czech Federation regarding Thomas Litzler passing his Homologators exam and Jan Veit passing as a Calculator.
Michael Katz took his 2nd Class Theoritical exam at the Seminar in Piestany and Juergen Pitz would contact Harry De Laat regarding the result. However since he did not took his Practical examin 2000, he will have to redo both exams.
Exams would be held by Juergen Pitz at the “Open” and Junior Europeans and the ECT Finals. He would also offer to hold exams at US Open if this would help PAN-AM Region.
Laco is still chasing the site surveys from all the cable sites around EAME. He has heard nothing from France, only one from Great Britain and nothing from Holland.
It was decided that as it was not possible to find a location for the seminar where the accommodation and room hire was reasonable that there would not be a seminar held in 2001. It was agreed that it should be tried to organise next year’s seminar in France and give as much publicity in advance as possible. Due to there being no seminar this season all officials would be given another year in which to attend a seminar to keep their qualifications valid.
Anne would investigate to try and find a suitable location either in Paris or at one of the cable sites within France. She was advised that out of EAME Cable budget the cost of a guest speaker , printing costs and technical support should be funded.
It was agreed that the EAME meeting should still be held in Paris on 17th/18th March, 2001 commencing at 1pm Saturday and continued on Sunday with the finish planned for 1pm.
Belarus had requested that all Federations with Cable activity should be able to attend an EAME Cable Meeting this however, was agreed by the Committee not to be workable and if anyone had any views they could either be expressed at a Seminar or at the Skiers Meeting. It was agreed that a Skiers meeting be organised, maybe on Thursday evening, at the European Championships in Havirov. Laco will contact the Czech Federation to organise the time and location. At this meeting all the technical changes could be discussed. These changes are mostly recommendations not compulsory.
The prices quoted for accommodation at Havirov have now been reduced from original bulletin. As part of the Obligations there will be doping control at Havirov on Sunday. It will be a random draw before Finals and six tests will be requested one of each sex in each discipline.
It was confirmed that the Dauphins have been granted full Championships status. The date has been moved to avoid the Tournament Worlds to 6th/8th September, 2001. The Opening Ceremony will be on Thursday with the Finals on Saturday. In the next bulletin there will be advice if there are any special air deals on Charter flights via either Amsterdam, Munich or Dusseldorf. The Major of Tel Aviv will be at the opening ceremony. The Hotel is cheap with sports facilities. The Israeli elections were on 6th February, 2001 and it was confirmed that everybody wanted a safe competition.
The teams will remain 5 juniors and 5 dauphins, with a maximum of 3 of each sex in each junior and dauphine team.
There are ten countries needed to send skiers to be notified by 16th July, 2001 in order for Water-skiing to take part in the Maccabiah Games. Jos from Holland is trying to sort this out.
At the moment there are no firm bids for ECT stops. However, both Austria and Poland have expressed an interest. Poland had in fact requested the Finals of ECT but hope to be agreed to hold one of the stops. Slovakia would try and help with providing Officials.
Maybe if Asten (Austria) decide to hold their competition in June then the skiers could go on to Piestany, Slovakia for training and a competition.
Germany were holding a meeting at the beginning of February, and it was hoped that they may offer to hold some competitions in the forthcoming season either 3 event or Wakeboard.
Normally there is a penalty for putting any events on the Calendar after middle of February so it was requested that for this season to encourage sites to host competitions that they would not be fined this year.
Format of ECT finals would be unchanged at the moment
A suggestion had been received from Belarus whereby ECT stops could be say only slalom or tricks and would attract a different sanction fee. Also that the results from each stop of the ECT should be posted at the next stop.
May be there should be ECT stops just for Junior and Dauphins. It was agreed that there should be more competitions for youngsters without prize money.
Poland at the moment have two cable sites and it is believed that there are another 10 scheduled to be built.
There is a second cable ski site planned in Tiberia and in the summer another due in Moscow. Another site is due to built in Cape Town.
Apparently, the site at the Idroscala is still not finished.
Nationals
French, British and Israel Federations have requested that they change the date of the Nationals from the “blocked weekend” and this was agreed.
The above competition was being organised on Easter weekend 13th/15th April, 2001 by Rene Hoffmann with AWSA approval. It is hoped that Andy Mapple and Jaret Llewellyn may attend. There will be a Masters (over 25) section.
Juergen Pitz will try and organise the Judges and Maoz has agreed to go as Technical Officer. Heidi and Juergen Pauen will also try and go. Vern Oberg will not be able to attend but he will try and encourage skiers to participate. The competition will Record Capability for both Jump and Slalom.
It is a good price for the hotel and Juergen Pitz will talk to Rene to try and persuade the organisers to
pay the Officials accommodation.
EAME
President & Secretary General
At this point of the meeting Kuno and Sid joined the meeting where the Calendar was discussed.
and it was agreed that penalties for this season would be waived.
Kuno advised that he would deal with the German tax problem. He advised that if ECT Finals are held in Germany there would be about 35% Tax deducted from the Cash Prize or the money should not be given at the finals but at an other occasion, in order to avoid this Tax issue..
Kuno agreed that six skiers should be dope tested at Europeans.
The Committee advised Kuno and Sid of the decision not to hold the seminar for this seaon.
Promotional
Video
It was agreed that 1200SF from the EAME Budget and 2000 SF from World Budget should be used for the promotional video. Any ideas should be submitted before the meeting in Paris.
It was advised that the video could be produced on CD which may be cheaper.
The video should be showed at the Skier’s meeting in Havirov
Manu Lion’s Rankings List programme is not working properly because of the rules for Overall scoring being changed. Was it possible for Manu to write the Homologation Programme? Juergen Pitz will write to Manu copying Kuno, requested the new Homologation programme.
Worlds
2002
Nothing has been heard from Louis Polome regarding South Africa hosting the 2002 World Championships. Juergen Pitz will write to Louis and Bruce MacFarlane.
Panels
It was agreed that the Officials Panels would be discussed at the March meeting.
Rules
Additional Rule modifications will be included in the new update.
New overall system appears to be working in Tournament and was not yet used in Cable. The results are worked out on 1000 points from the World Record.
There is a big change in the number of tricks in each category allowed.
No books are to be printed as can be down-loaded from the Web. However, copies will be sent to Belarus and possibly Slovakia.
It was agreed that no rule changes should be made just before future World Championships.
It was agreed in future there would be no standing list for Overall
Discussion if computer programme can automatically recognise the cut off points for different
homologation levels but if not results will have to be checked manually.
Juergen Pitz reported that he had heard nothing from Colin Ellison or anybody from Asia/Australasia. There was a big problem with Federation in Australia because of the insurance question in respect of Ski Racing. The Federation could be split up in parts. In respect of PAN-AM region Vern would be asked to help set up a Council in his region as for World status there needs to be Councils in all regions.
The subject of alternative competitions will be discussed at the Skiers’ meeting at Europeans.
Delegates from Belarus have several good ideas which they are forwarding to EAME Cable Council. However, it does need to be checked that their conduct at all times is “sportsman like” and not too much in their favour as a country with very good skiers but not holding competitions.
Homologation Dossiers
All organisers are requested again to check that Homologation are to be sent within seven days.
Cable Wakeboard was discussed in connection with upcoming First World Cable Wakeboard Championships. It was agreed that more discussion should be had between the two divisions as it was believed to be helpful to progress the sport
Marie-Anne again thanked everybody for attending and closed the meeting.
Minutes are subject of approval at the next Region EAME Cableski Council meeting.
